SnipNotes provides multiple ways to dictate new notes on Apple Watch:

In the App

  1. Open SnipNotes on your Apple Watch and tap the “Create Note” button.
  2. Tap the microphone icon in the lower-right corner to start dictating text.
  3. Once you have finished dictating your text, tap “Done” in the upper-right corner.

On Your Watch Face

  1. Add the SnipNotes complication to your watch face.
  2. Open the settings menu in SnipNotes on your iPhone.
  3. Go to “Advanced Settings” → “Apple Watch” → Configure Complication”.
  4. Select the option “Create New Note”.

<aside> ⚠️ Since watchOS 8, it is no longer possible to open the dictation screen directly. Tap the microphone icon in the lower-right corner before dictating your text.

Using Siri

Using Shortcuts

You can create a shortcut in the “Shortcuts” app with the following steps:

  1. Dictate text
  2. Store the dictated text in a variable
  3. Create a new note in SnipNotes with the text stored inside the variable

<aside> ⚠️ The second step is required for the shortcut to work correctly on Apple Watch. If you use the dictated text directly in the “Create Note” action, your created note will be empty. That is a bug in the Shortcuts app as of January 2023.
